my view on berachain
seeing a lot of people dunking on berachain today for being centralised and halting the chain. in my view, this is a GOOD decision
let me be abundantly clear: EVERY SINGLE CHAIN except for bitcoin and ethereum is centralised. every single chain
base can be turned off when brian, cringe jesse and a third guy sign the multisig. solana is completely centralised, they are ALL centralised, which is why they are all just regular startups, but worse since their tokens do not capture the value of the network. there is only ONE smart contract platform that is decentralised and that is ethereum
berachain halting the chain today to protect user funds is BULLISH. making sure your people don't lose money is more important than pretending not to be centralised when you clearly are
furthermore, i think smokey is a very high integrity founder. i don't believe in berachain, just like i don't believe in monad or any of these alt L1s or L2s but unlike pacman or sandy, smokey is not a grifter. his product just does not have pmf and that is fine. he is actually still trying to make it work, which is laudable
